Who Needs A Spoon? | A Scrapbook Layout

I am currently creating layouts from some page kits I created the other day. Shimelle’s class Remix is helping me dig out older paper collections and to use them up! The blue dot and red candy drops papers are from older Jenni Bowlin collections and these photos are at least seven years old. It feels good to scrapbook some older papers and older photos!

It’s been a hectic week so I didn’t have much time to scrapbook. I deliberately chose a sketch that I felt I could complete quickly (it’s a page map from Becky Fleck, pinned here) and I was able to get this one done in less than an hour! Having all the papers and photos ready to go helped get me started faster than usual.

I thought this sketch would be great for paper scraps. I had full sheets of paper, but one of the designs I used (the red paper with the apples) came from a 6×6 paper pad. These strips still feel like they stretch across the page as I layered them behind the photos.

I love the fun embellishments along the right border. Normally a scattering like this would feel like “sticker sneeze” but layering in the twine and stapling it to the page gives the elements some grounding. It feels like they belong rather than just floating out there.

Happy Friday and I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  16. Great page – that’s not a sticker sneeze it’s an embellie shower – and well done too. I’m glad you are finding the page kits you made up useful. Can I ask – do you purposely reach for older photos when using older papers?
