What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday | 178

Happy Halloween and welcome to another Wednesday Workdesk! This is the day that crafters near and far snap a photo of their little corner of the world to share with Julia over at the Stamping Ground. I haven’t been able to share the past couple weeks, so I’m looking forward to hopping around desks this afternoon (after volunteering and errands this morning). If you want snoop, click here to see more desks!

Today my actual workdesk has nothing on it. But if you turn 180 degrees from tiny workspace you see this:

Lot’s of fun stacks! I’m taking Shimelle’s Remix class right now. It’s all about making layouts and pretty pages and mixing older paper collections with new papers. Since I’ve been scrapbooking for about 13 years now, I still have some ancient papers on hand.

Then I grabbed my photo boxes to see if I had anything on hand that would work with the colors in these papers. No problem there! In fact, as I kept working, I found even more photos than you see here. I have enough to create several layouts from each of these stacks and truly maximize the kit potential.

I may even do some starting points with all the scraps. I do NOT want any of the super old papers finding their way back in my stash. It’s time to use them up! And if I remember to document the process, I’ll create a post about how I do in the near future.

So what are you working on today?

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I know exactly what you mean about ancient paper. I don’t scrapbook, but I have masses of paper bought over the years, hoarded away. The trouble is our tastes change, don’t they, and people keep coming up with such gorgeous new stuff we simply must have, lol.Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #86

    • It’s a bit of a change for me too but once I got the photos out, it was surprisingly easy to find photos to work with each set of papers. 🙂 Not every photo will work with each one of course, but it wasn’t hard to find something. And I’m not above turning photos to black and white if I need to.

  7. I can certainly understand that get rid of the old so the new can come on in! On the kit club site TheScrapRoom forum has a post called Kit Killer where we’re trying to kill/get rid of much of your kit stash as we can!!!! Is Shimelles class at your own pace, I never understood the whole thing of online classes.
Your desk is what my desk usually looks like lots of projects spread out for completion. Thats what I plan to work on for the remainder of Nov getting the old works of progress completed the first is in my post today. TFS Tamika #112

    • Hi Tamika! Thanks for stopping by! All online classes work differently. In this one, Shimelle sends out prompts Mon-Fri with the collection she’s using and several examples of what she created. There are also videos each week. I primarily use these classes as sources of inspiration. I like to work on the things I’m inspired by, not so much create because of a class assignment. So I absorb what Shimelle shares and use it or not, depending on what I want to work on. That is the beauty of an online class. 🙂

  14. I found it interesting that your thought process was the oposite to mine …maybe I should try yours. I normally choose a photo and then hunt for papers that I feel work with the photo and together. As I have not scrapped for ages maybe a new approach is what I need….and I so need to use old papers …my stash is very old and old with a touch of new and even newer. xx#101

  17. Hi Tammy,
Using up old stuff seems to be a bit of a theme this week – and it’s a good one. Reminds me to do the same with some really good stuff I’ve had for too long. Like your layout plans/kits. I like to make things this way too – get the plan going with all the ingredients (or likely ones) lined up.
Thanks for leaving a comment for me. I put up another post with more about the rose today but only if you’re interested.
    Cheers,

  22. Wow, you are a busy bee. I think it’s brilliant to keep yourself from stashing back older papers once you have pulled them out. Good luck finishing up all those kits.
