Thank goodness it’s Friday! I had a really busy week and I’m so happy for a few days off. I haven’t spent any time in my craft room for days. You know what happens when you don’t exercise the creative muscle, right? My mojo has left the building.
So, I thought I would issue a little challenge to myself for the weekend. I was reading the February issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine and there’s an article in there about 4 ways to boost your creativity. The first one to create a layout using just three products. It’s the exact push I need for myself this weekend.
I’m not so sure I could limit myself to just three things. OK, I could force it but I don’t think I’d be too thrilled with the results. I took the “three” concept and expanded it to three pattern papers, three embellishments and three tools. And here’s what I have:
- Paper – three sheets of pattern paper from the Circa 1934 collection
- Embellishments – black Tiny Type letters, Tim Holtz Symphony Tissue Tape, and a variety package of red brads I found at Hobby Lobby
- Tools – Tim Holtz Scattered Straw distress ink, EK Success Flourish Square slim punch, and a 4×8 Quickutz alphabet
- (Plus Cream Puff cardstock and a pen for journaling)
I have no idea what photos I will use or what the design will be, but I will incorporate all the products into a layout. I’m really hoping this sparks the ideas for other projects I want to work on this weekend. I will share my results next week!
Do you ever issue creative challenges to yourself when your mojo is low? What kinds of things help you find the creativity again?
