Weekend Challenge | November 2011

It’s the first weekend of November so that means it’s time for another weekend challenge! I’m really hoping that I’ll get some uninterrupted crafting time this weekend. After the fake offer to buy my house on Sunday, I’ve had showings almost every day this week. I still have hope that I’ll sell this house soon! My rule is no showings on Sundays (so that I can hang laundry with no worries of people showing up), so if not Saturday, then on Sunday I’ll make the time.

This month’s challenge is all about using ephemera or memorabilia along with my photos. I was going through my photo library the other day, trying to get some ideas for this challenge when I came across the perfect set of photos:

Photos + memorabilia. One of my favorite combinations.

I’ve got some photos of the Habitrot Fun Run from Thanksgiving 2 years ago along with my number above. And just to add another level of challenge, I’ll try to get super creative and make it a 2-pager (my least favorite to design). OK, the wheels are already spinning…………

OH – I’m super excited to say that Archiver’s is opening here in Nashville this weekend. I so wish there was a good quality local scrapbook store here, but sadly, there is not. I stopped by my closest scrapbook store last weekend (45 minutes away) to pick up a refill I needed and the store was filled with summer lines and old stuff but very little new. I would spend so much more money there if they carried current lines. When I ask for Echo Park or October Afternoon they look at me like they have no idea what I’m talking about. Sigh.

Thankfully, Archiver’s does carry more of what I’m looking for. I’ll be stopping by often.

Happy Friday! Hope you have a great, crafty weekend.

  3. That is exciting about the new Archiver’s! I either order online or drive 35-40 minutes to find a decent scrapbook store. Love your no showings on Sunday rule, so important to still have the house all to yourself at least for a little bit! Hope it sells soon!

  4. I love using memorabilia on layouts! I just need to come up with a better method of organizing!
I am really spoiled to have two Archiver’s and a pretty great LSS within 30 minutes of me. I try not to ever take it for granted!

  6. Can’t wait to see what you do with your challenge! I tell ya Tammy, I was so confused the other day with your “fake” offer. I’ve never heard of someone doing that. I hope all the showings you’ve had this week are a good sign and one of them works out for you 🙂 Congrats on the new Archivers! We have one here, but it’s about 45 minutes from my house so I only go when I’m at work. It’s 20 minutes from work 🙂

  7. I miss going to the scrapbook stores. The only one we have left is the larger chain craft stores. I can’t believe they are all gone 🙁
I have been shopping more online.
I can’t wait to see the layout. I am wondering if you will use the whole race number or fold it in half???

  8. I am so jealous you got an Archiver’s! There is one in Houston but not here in Dallas and hardly any other scrapbook stores at all. It’s ridiculous! Have fun!

  9. So happy you are getting a Archivers. I have to drive over 7 hours and cross over the American border to get to one 🙁
Hope you get some creative time in this weekend 🙂

  10. I feel your pain. My “local” (so-so) a 15 min drive has just closed. A great one 45 min. away is closing soon. I now have another so-so 20 min away, fab. one 50 min away, Archivers and a great local 1.5 hrs. away. . .sigh. . . Guess a lot of postage is in my future.
