Weekend Challenge | May 2011

Happy Friday! I am so glad the weekend is right in front of us. Especially when the weekend includes National Scrapbook Day! Who is celebrating tomorrow?

I am hoping to spend part of the day scrapbooking. I signed up for the Creating Keepsakes/Big Pictures Classes crop and I will be checking in with the Two Peas crop as well. I’m sure there will be challenges and prompts and all kinds of things going on to get everyone in a creative mood.

Since it’s the first Friday of the month, it’s time for my monthly challenge! This month, I have decided to participate in the May Counterfeit Kit Challenge. This blog started a few months ago and has exploded with creativity. On the 5th day of each month, they reveal a new inspiration kit with the idea you shop from your own stash to create an imitation kit. Throughout the month they issue challenges and offer tutorials.

I love the idea of shopping from your own stash! Yesterday I checked out the May kit and thought this would be a great month to just jump in! I only had one sheet of pattern paper from the kit this month, so my kit is almost entirely different.

Here is what I pulled together:

I used the WIP kit  as inspiration and pulled papers from Crate Paper, Echo Park, Cosmo Cricket, Die Cuts With A View, Basic Grey, Scenic Route and K&Co. I thought the kit was a little light on embellishments so I added quite a few other things — like buttons, chipboard shapes, stickers, bling and two alphabets.

Combining this kit with the Counterfeit kit blog and all the NSD activities at the various scrapbooking sites, I should have more than enough inspiration to keep me going this weekend. Next Tuesday I’ll be back to post what I created.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a fantastic weekend!
