Weekend Challenge | August 2011

How can it be August already? Is your summer is flying by like mine is? It kind of feels like the speed of this go-cart ride I zoomed through with my nephew last week. We need to make the most of these last few weeks of summer!

Since it is the first weekend of the month, it’s time for another weekend challenge. I started these challenges a few months ago to help me find my scrapping mojo. It worked, so I turned the challenge idea into a monthly feature. Sometimes I follow along with existing challenges, other times I just make them up myself.

This month, I was inspired by Nichol Magouirk’s August Scrapbook Stamping class atΒ Two Peas. She stamped words and images on blocks and used them as embellishments on the page. In addition, she added some die cut butterflies and used a resist technique with her stamps.Β Even with the limited supplies I have right now, this is something I can actually do! My challenge will be to create a layout using stamped blocks in the design, die cut images and the same resist technique.

Do you have big plans for the weekend? I’m going to drop by the shopping part of the Creating Keepsakes Convention here in Nashville. I have a very short list of items, including a few stamps, sticker sheets, ink refills and distress stains that will fit nicely in my color drawers. Once I find them, I’ll exercise self-control and remove myself from the premises, so that I don’t keep on shopping. There is just way too much temptation in that vendor faire!

Have a great weekend!

    • It wasn’t too hard. There were only a few vendors there than carried the stuff I was looking for. I’m not into laser cut titles or eyelets, so I just passed right by a lot of booths. I did splurge on some new My Mind’s Eye papers and two of their new 6×6 paper pads. But other than that, I stuck to my list. πŸ˜€

    • I am quite proud to say I managed it without too much extra damage. It helps when there isn’t much new to choose from. πŸ™‚

  6. I agree this summer is flying by way WAY to fast.
I am not a winter person, so I try to get the most out of our summer. But I feel that I haven’t lived to the summer’s full potential this year ;(
