Twilight | A Scrapbook Layout

No, not that Twilight.

Twilight…as in the time of day. It was the word that kept coming up as I worked on this layout, so it had to be the title. It’s my favorite time of day. I love how the shadows lengthen and the light fades. That short window between day and night, when the first stars twinkle in the sky.

I ended up going with the old Sassafrass Sunshine Broadcast background paper. I thought about cutting my papers and fitting them into the sun rays as is the popular look right now. But that just didn’t feel right. I only had 6×6 papers and being short on time, I started stacking the papers up and within moments, I had a background I really liked. You can still see the rays on the paper in the background and they help to reinforce the setting sun in the photo.

I kept the embellishments simple. I cut one Maya Road clear doily in half and used one half on each side of the layout. Because there was so much black at the top with the title and the black pattern paper, I felt the doily on each side would help anchor the block of patterns and help create a visual triangle, with the photo in between. I added some Stardust stickles to a few of clear star ghost shapes and then added a sprinkle of tiny clear rhinestones. I edged a journaling card with white paint to help it stand out and added my journaling in silver ink.

With my busy schedule it took me several days to put this one together.  A few minutes here, a few minutes there. Before I left for work or when I got home…before collapsing on the couch in exhaustion. I’m sure I’ll get used to this new routine eventually. At least this is one more photo and another favorite thing documented even if it took longer than usual to finish.

And coming soon… I think I have come up with a solution for my 4×6 and 3×4 journaling cards. More on that later this week!

Thanks for stopping by today.

If you are looking on how to organize your journal cards, I just did mine a week or so ago, can’t remember if you saw it or not. But I love it 🙂

  6. The papers you chose are perfect with this photo – beautiful layout!

It took me a LOOOOOONG time to adjust to being back at work this semester (& I’m only teaching 12 hours a week, plus prep and grading)! I’m definitely on the two-week countdown until school ends. LOL
