Just a quick layout to share today.
It was not really my intent to make a happy layout here. What I needed to do was put some papers and embellishments from a few Cocoa Daisy kits to good use.
I snapped these photos of a snake in the bushes outside my condo. I live in Florida and the critters are just a reality. Lizards, roaches, and yes, snakes. I don’t mind the lizards but for the others, while I know they are there, I am perfectly happy if I never, ever see them. One day, I rounded the corner with a load of groceries, spied the creature and all I could think was: SNAKE!!!!!! While it creeped me out, I still grabbed the camera. As my Dad would say, it’s a good garden snake and you want them in your yard to eat up other critters. Awesome.
(I am not convinced.)
With all the green in the background, I ended up going with a contrasting color for the background. Fuzzy Sweater from Chic Tags came in my October Cocoa Daisy kit and it was perfect. I’ve also been keeping all the kit embellishments on a tray in my workspace and find myself using them more when I can easily pull them over to whatever layout I am working on.
The wood veneer frame came in one of my kits, as did the twine I used to wrap around it. I created a few spots for embellishment with some strips of washi tape and flowers from my stash. I also had a new pack of sequins from Lawn Fawn’s Into the Woods collection and since the colors coordinated so well, I couldn’t resist adding them.
Instead of a scary and creepy snake page, I think I ended up with more of a happy, sunny garden page. Not exactly what I was aiming for, but I needed to get these supplies on a page to make room for my November kit. This wasn’t my favorite story to document, but it shows the realities of where I live and since the photos turned out so well, they deserved a page.
Do you grab your camera to document the wild life in your garden? Tell me I’m not the only one!
Thanks for stopping by today!
