Slumber Party | A Scrapbook Layout

by Tammy on December 6, 2013

I have really been enjoying working with my November Cocoa Daisy kit. It had a bit of a celestial theme with a few of the papers and the fun embellishments. It reminded me that I had some photos of my nephews sleeping and sprawled out on my Mom’s living room floor when they were visiting last March.

I printed the photos and got to work.

This layout comes almost entirely from my November Cocoa Daisy kit. I added some washi tape, a journaling card and some black Thickers from my stash.

I knew that blue astronomy paper would be my background. At first glance, looking through the kit, I was less than thrilled with these Basic Grey papers from the Persimmon line. Of the whole line, they were the two I liked least. But upon a second look and pairing up my photos, I realized these prints sort of compliment the crazy print on the sheets in the photo. So I just went with it!

I really loved the fun wood veneer elements included in the kit. I took advantage of that dark area in my photo to add the circle embellishments. The grey chipboard alphabet came in the kit and I just added in a contrasting font for the rest of my title. I added a couple of spots of washi tape to bring some black into the right side of my layout. I actually used the We R Memory Keepers washi tape sheets here. I think I’ll do a review of this product soon too. Lots of fun things you can do with the sheets.

My Cocoa Daisy subscription will be up in another month. I’m trying to decide if I should extend it, find a new kit or do away with it all together. I’ve been having fun working with products I didn’t select myself. I think I want to continue with a kit of some sort, but I’m going to start exploring other options. I’ll let you know what I end up with.

Thanks for stopping by today!

That background paper does work perfect with these photos! I’m enjoying working with the products I’m receiving as part of our (not-so) LSS design team – it’s a different process starting with product first!

Love this! That background paper is perfect, and I agree the busy papers compliment the photos well. I’m jealous of the wood veneers too! x

Fabulous layout! I have been on the fence about getting kit subscription. I don’t think Studio calico’s is as good a value as it once was. I do get Simon Says Stamp’s card kit and it is packed with lots of goodies. I definitely am getting my money’s worth! I look forward to reading what you decide.

Love the colors. Blue & tan is a combo I often forget about. I would find a new kit which would add to the challenge.

I love the wood veneer pieces, perfect for a sleepover layout :) as well as the astronomy paper. I don’t think I’ve heard of the washi tape sheets so I can’t wait for a review!

This is fab. I especially like the sprinkling of circular items around the page – they seem to work so well with the background. I love being inspired by product, so I like the thrill of getting new stuff every month in a kit. So good luck on finding a new kit club – Paper Camellia is worth a look or scrapbook.com allows you to buy only when you like the kit and you can add other items at the same time, or if you want to use up old stash, give the Counterfeit Kit Challenge a try.

Love how you combined the papers on this page, it looks great! I haven’t been part of a monthly kit club for a while now. Thinking of starting with Jenni Bowlin’s in January…

Those papers are all fabulous!
You are right the BG worked well with the photos.
Such a great page overall!
And I love those wood embellishments :)

Right now I belong to The Paper Bakery. I am pretty happy with the kits I get from them and they are pretty reasonable. My term is up in December, too, and trying to figure if it’s in the budget for 2014. But I hadn’t subbed to a kit club since 2010 (Studio Calico) before that.
