It Is Magical | A Scrapbook Layout

This story has been on my list of layouts to complete for a long time. Sometimes it takes a few years for me to get around to certain photos and certain stories. But I have discovered that when I have prints ready to go, I will actually scrapbook them. (Yes, that is encouragement to get your photos printed, if you don’t print them yourself at home.) I included this photo with my last Shutterfly order and once it was printed, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

My goal in creating this layout was to showcase the collection of books across the top. Are your kids obsessed with a series of books or movies? Why not include photos or prints of the collection along with a photo of your child participating in the activity? This is a great way to document something they are interested in.

No one was more surprised than me that I actually enjoyed reading the Harry Potter series. Before February 2010 I hadn’t read one book or seen any of the movies. But when your 9-year old nephew issues a challenge to read them, what choice do you have but to start reading?

How do you scrapbook your collections?

By the way, that purple flower that does not in any way match or go with my layout indicates that I created this layout for my Twelve Big Picture class.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  5. Great idea! I wish I would have had my husband take a photo of Evan and I reading all those HP books at bed time. It took us a year to get through the series, but we did. I should definitely scrap it!

  7. Oh fantastic, I need to make a note to make something similar to commemorate when the last book finally came out. The books across the top of the page – is that a photo of all the books together?

    • The books across the top of that Harry Potter page are actually individual photos. I went to Amazon and found each book and saved an image of each one and then printed them on photo paper. I tried taking photos with the different books but couldn’t get anything to work. And I wanted to be able to see each one and stagger them a bit so it just worked better to print each cover individually.

  9. I love this page! I’ve been planning on doing a page about HP because both my kids and I read all the books (more than once) and saw all the movies. When the last movie came out, it was sad because it was over. We started with the series years ago, so it has been a part of our lives for a while.

  11. Great layout – I really like the row of books across the top. I scrapped our Harry Potter story a couple of months ago, but I haven’t done layouts about some of the other books series we’ve enjoyed together. Off to add that to my Twelve idea list!
