Today I have a quick layout to share. I was super inspired by this layout from Leah Farquharson on this post at the American Crafts blog. While summer may be the favorite season for the majority, it is my least favorite season. Summer in Central Florida is hot and humid and uncomfortable past 10 AM. And it does not cool off at night so there is pretty much no relief from the heat for about four months.
I don’t scrapbook about summer much because it’s the season I hibernate and stay indoors as much as possible. (But the other 8 months of the year are fabulous — I’m not complaining!) So when I saw Leah’s layout, I thought it was the perfect way for me to scrapbook about our brutal summer in a positive way.
I use these smart phone screen captures in my Project Life album all the time, but this is the first time I’ve highlighted one on a 12×12 layout. Our temperatures do not fluctuate that much throughout the summer months. This screenshot was from July but it could have been any time in June or August or September.
I love this Here and Now collection from Echo Park. I used the Clouds paper as the larger background frame for the photo. It’s such happy, pretty paper. With only that one photo, so much of it is still on display. I added in some palm trees and hibiscus flowers because what is a page about Florida without them? I also used my very favorite flourish square punch to add three accents around the page that form a visual triangle. Lastly, I used a journaling card from the Project Life – Honey core kit.
How is your weather this summer (or winter, depending on which side of the world you are on!)? Have you thought to document it?
Thanks for stopping by today!
