In Need Of Some Inspiration

It’s funny how life can insert itself into our creative lives and wreak havoc.

Things were going along just fine. I was figuring out a new schedule and still finding time to craft and write. I was getting into the swing of it. Making it work. And then I had to work 65 hours last week to cover for someone else, keeping the doors open while the store manager was on vacation.

I’m starting to regret ever getting this job in the first place. (No, not really — it’s not that bad and I really needed to get out of the house!)

It just happened all at once and the only way to survive was to keep breathing and just get through it. But it threw my mojo off. Seriously off. I’ve had some free time in the last few days to create and all I did was stare at a pile of supplies and just sit there. No motivation at all.

So, I took took the bull by the horns and went to Big Picture Classes and signed up for some upcoming workshops. Maybe it will help get the mojo flowing.

I signed up for:

Camp Scrap with May Flaum. It starts in a few short weeks. I’ve taken many of May’s classes in the past and they are always fun. My style is vastly different but I can always find some inspiration in the material she presents.

Hello Story with Ali Edwards. Many of my pages recently have been more technique oriented or centered around something I wanted to try. It’s been awhile since I focused on storytelling, so I thought this one might help me get focused back on bringing the stories to life.

The Phone Photography Project with many contributors. Now that I have a new phone with an 8MP camera, I want to use my phone camera more. Looks like a lot of territory will be covered in this one and I’m looking forward to the challenges all through July.

Yes, it was quite a splurge. But it’s worth it if the mojo gets a jolt.

Is anyone joining me?

Have a great weekend!

  1. I hope your creativity comes back soon, Tammy. I miss seeing your beautiful work. After putting in 65 hours, it’s no surprise you had no energy left to put into crafting. I hope you get some time to relax this weekend.

  2. I’ve sat at my desk many times and just stared at my supplies, expecting them to tell me what too do 😉 glad you’ve signed up for some classes!

  3. oh fun! I am taking Camp Scrap too – see you in class!

  4. I just checked out all the classes at BPC myself this week to see what I want to do over the summer. I’m considering Camp Scrap, Multi-Photo Solutions, Hello Story and Technique Toolbox! Now I just need to make a decision and sign up!!

  5. No but the phone photo class looks good. Can’t wait to hear about it.

  6. I think it is AWESOME that you still have energy to blog while working a 65-hour week.
Don’t be so hard on yourself: when I was going through a similar crazy time at work, the only thing I had energy for was reading and TV. Blogging and scrapping? No way.
The mojo does eventually come back. In my case, playing with my supplies really helps. Looking at all those pretty things really does something good to your brain.
    Don’t give up!

  7. I am sure you will get your mojo back in no time.
    Can’t keep a good scrapbooker down 😉
Those classes do sound like fun. Actually I have never taken a class before.
