Good Sense of Humor | A Scrapbook Layout

I have another layout to share today.

This one is based on a fun sketch I had pinned on my sketches board at Pinterest.

What did we do before Pinterest? I look at my boards anytime I need inspiration or a starting point before starting a layout. I saw this sketch and thought it would be perfect for some birthday photos. It has a birthday feel with the banner, but I changed it up to accommodate my photos.

These are photos from Spring Break a few months ago. My Mom’s birthday usually falls while my nephews are visiting. They certainly had some fun with her in their choice of sound card (apologies to anyone that might be offended – if you are a Mom of boys, you can probably relate!). Having raised a boy, my Mom thought it was pretty funny and the whole thing added some comedy to the evening.

I think I went a little butterfly crazy on this one, but it’s summer time and that inspired me. And there aren’t a lot of other embellishments on the page, so it works. I also deviated from the sketch to add some tapes and some gems and stickles to jazz up the butterflies.

Other: Heidi Swapp/Advantus gems and tape, Pink Paislee Artesian tape, Doodlebug trim.

Is anyone paying attention to any of the CHA coverage? I love to see sneaks and previews of all the new products coming out. I’m working on another trend spotting post with some of my impressions so far. More on that later this week.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. You know before I even read the journaling I knew it had something to do with farting….boys and farts just go hand in hand, lol.
    Great layout as always.
Pinterest is just full of great sketches.

  4. That is a fun sketch!!! I love that banner, will definitely have to try it out, what size are your scallops?

    • Becky, they are 1.5 inches. I think Fiskars calls it the large punch. This size worked a little better than the 2 inch scallop circles.

  6. I like how you cut out the journaling…really helps it pop on the pattern paper. The folded scallop banner is fun too.

  11. Hi Tammy, it was so fun to see you commenting on my neglected blog, thanks so much! I have really enjoyed catching up with you, and have taken some great tips for keeping up with Project Life (love how you keep a notebook with a sketch of the page protectors, genius!). Love looking at all your LO’s too and all your great finds (love text paper). Hope you are settling back in Orlando; you know its one of my fav places; can’t believe its over a year since we were last there! Have a great week, Sue x
