I’m kind of shocked that this layout is going up today. A holiday layout complete before the end of the holiday season? Yes indeed. I am so on top of it this year. (Much more so than I was about my holiday cards…which I only finished about half the amount I wanted to make and even less actually got in the mail. Maybe I should start a new tradition this year… Happy New Year cards!)
For this layout, I used a Scrapbook Generation 2-page sketch. I’ve had this sheet of numbers from Making Memories in my stash for many, many years. I always thought it would be fun for a December Daily album but I haven’t created one in several years. When I came across this sketch, I thought these numbers would be perfect. And there is nothing significant about which numbers I used, I just cut out some random numbers, arranging them into the two groupings. I also used up some holiday paper from Basic Grey (also from several years ago). Yeah, I’m not much of a seasonal scrapper so I stopped buying holiday papers ages ago. At the rate I’m going, it will still be many years before I buy new Christmas papers.
Because of the warmness of the photos and the cream backgrounds on the paper, I actually wanted to use gold accents on this page (rather than silver, which is my preference 95% of the time). I stamped some doilies on vellum and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder and then added them around the number clusters. Originally I had the 2013 by itself pushed over to the right corner and it just wasn’t working. I’m so glad the idea of the flags came to me, as I really like how that subtitle grouping with the twine wrapped around the numbers caps off that row of photos. I added a few journaling strips, some flowers and strips of washi tape and called it done.
How are you doing documenting your December this year? Are you working on an album or just a few layouts like me?
Thanks for stopping by today!
