Customized Word Flags | A Tutorial

A few weeks ago I shared how I was using this punch to help me document things in Project Life. Today, I have another fun printable idea to share.

October Afternoon has an embellishment pack with some of their collections called Flower Sacks and they come with the cutest word flags. They are perfect to add to photos and journaling cards in Project Life, but there are only a few words in each collection. Since it’s such an easy thing to do, I created my own, with words relevant to my life.

Tutorial: Customized Word Flags

I created a document in my word processing program and used a 9-point font to repeat a variety of words and phrases to fill up a sheet of paper. I printed the file onto cardstock and trimmed each line. One spaced line between each word row is enough to trim between them. Using my trimmer and scissors, I trimmed each phrase and added the flag detail.

Now I have a stack of words and phrases I can add to photos and journaling in my Project Life or to general scrapbook pages. While I love pre-made embellishments, it’s nice to customize things to fit your own needs. I love that I can add words that my nephews say or the “inside family joke” phrases that are meaningful to us. It’s such an easy thing to create yourself!

There is a lot of Project Life updating going on for me this week. I’m planning to post some updates over the weekend.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  6. That is a great idea Tammy! I am always trying to find new ideas for my PL and this is a good one!

  7. So smart Tammy!! Adding these to toothpicks or straight pins and imagine how cute they would be on cards for family! I almost picked up am embellishment pack the other day that had toothpicks with long skinny triangles for flags. I’m still trying to find the perfect template for that triangle so I can make my own!! 🙂
