Have you noticed the big gold trend lately?
Gold is popping up all over the paper crafting world lately. Not that gold ever really went away but it seems to be trending back big time.
You see it in layouts from favorite designers like these gold stars from Wilna at Two Peas:
Even though I am a die hard white metal, platinum and silver lover, I must admit that I am intrigued. It started for me with that gold polka-dot vellum paper in the Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic collection (which unfortunately is discontinued and no longer available):
Case in point…here are some of my silver embellishments:
And that’s not everything, just one particular drawer (everything is still in bags from my recent move) that is all silver metal. This does not include decorative silver brads or clips or tags.
But here is my collection of gold embellishments:
Yup. That’s all. It fits on one hand.
I do like to follow the trends and see what is showing up over and over on the pages from my favorite designers. While I don’t always jump on the band wagon, I’m wondering if gold will grow on me this time around. So I broke down and picked up a few things.
I’m really digging these Funkidori Thickers from the Crate Paper’s The Pier collection. They are printed with tiny polka dots of gold for just a small touch of shine. I also picked up this package of paper clips because I’d knew I’d use the blue and white ones. It wouldn’t be a total waste if I didn’t end up using the gold ones. And in the back is a package of gold vellum from Hobby Lobby. I’ve already used it here:
Will I ever go to the dark side and wholeheartedly embrace gold? Nope. Don’t think so. (Especially when it comes to jewelry!) I think I’ve purchased all the gold products I can handle for now.
Are you embracing this gold trend?
