Weekend Scrapbook Challenge | Color

A few weeks ago, I issued a scrapbook challenge to myself. I have never really participated in challenges before but from my little experiment, I realized how valuable they can be. Giving yourself limitations can make your scrapbooking process easier and boost creativity. It actually worked for me so I thought I might try a new challenge once a month.

This month, I really want to try a color challenge. I found this image here at hostessblog.com and I created the following color swatch:

I almost never use purple in my layouts. I have nothing against purple, I love purple (especially lilac because I grew up in the lilac city of Spokane) but I just don’t use it much. Purple isn’t a flattering color on me so I don’t wear it and I honestly don’t find it in my photos that often.

Maybe that’s exactly why I was attracted to these photos — this color combination really will stretch me! I have no idea if I have any photos that will work, so that will be my first priority. I’ll share my results next week!

What are you up to this weekend? Do you have any crafty plans? Are you working on your own challenges? Whatever you have planned, I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Thank you for stopping by today!

  6. Those colors would go very well with pictures that feature a lot of green, if that helps. I love the palette! Purple is my favorite color and I mostly have dark purples and violets in my stash. I need to get some lilac.

This weekend I’m supposed to be packing for a trip, but I’m thisclose to finishing a double page layout. I’m recently coming out of a rut, so I really want to finish it this weekend! I’m also using the layout to experiment with some new ideas, so I’m really excited. The downside is that I have a ton of other stuff to do and getting the layout done will be a challenge.

    • Thanks for the tip! I’m about to go hunt photos, so I’ll look for green! 🙂 If the mojo is flowing, the packing can wait. LOL. You don’t want to forget the ideas before you have a chance to try them out.

  8. Those are gorgeous colors! I’ve been busy today working on 8×8 pages for my i.scrap album (Stacy Julian’s new workshop at BPC) and am hoping to do some fun layouts after I’ve browsed a few more blogs. I’m looking forward to seeing what you create with these colors!

    • I had a few extra minutes this afternoon and I was able to finish my 8×8 layouts. I still need to make the journaling pages and do the accent painting. I’m loving how it’s coming together but I do have a few pages that do not look great with my happy color. I actually thought about finding other products but stopped myself and just went with it. Stacy knows best! 😀

  9. love the colors. Color challenges are so difficult for me. I really struggle with them.
I love your layouts. You are so very talented. Make it look easy and I know first hand it is not.

    • Thank you Pea! Usually challenges of any kind are hard for me! But I have learned that sometimes you need the push to do something you wouldn’t normally do so it can open you up to new possibilitites.

      I appreciate your kind words!
