CHA Winter 2012 | Trend Spotting

The Craft and Hobby Association’s (CHA) Winter show is now underway. Have you been checking out the sneak peeks from all of the scrapbooking manufacturers? I just can’t help myself. I love to look at new products and make a wish list of things I’d like to pick up when these new products hit the stores.

After looking through some of the new lines and collections, I’m seeing some trends repeating and new trends taking hold. I haven’t seen any of these items in person yet, I don’t attend the show. These are just my impressions from the sneaks made public so far.

Hexagons – Pink Paislee brought hexagon embellishments to us with the Nantucket collection last fall. This year, several companies have taken the motif to a new level.

Wood buttons – companies like Kaiser Kraft and Pink Paislee have been bringing wood embellishments for awhile now, but several companies are introducing wood buttons in their new offerings.

Color Trend – Tangerine Tango may be the Pantone color of the year, but I’m seeing a blues + yellow + grey color combination all over this show.

Retro is still hot– October Afternoon usually hits it out of the park with their retro inspired lines. They are back at this show with more and from the lines introduced by other companies, retro is not going anywhere.

Stars are everywhere – Rosettes were a motif that we’ve seen for awhile. They are still around, but stars are dominant in many lines across this show. Starts are going to be big this year!

So, what new products are you excited about?

Thanks for stopping by today!

  9. Nice collection! I’m liking these trends, but not seeing anything really groundbreaking this time around. Waiting to see what grows on me, probably will need to see stuff in person to really tell.
