Another Birthday | A Scrapbook Layout

I celebrated a birthday this past weekend. Hate to admit it, but I’ve been in denial about it for awhile. I never had a hard time with birthdays but this one was tough. Not because of the number so much but it’s at the milestones that it dawns on you that there really isn’t “plenty of time” to keep putting things off. I’ve never been more aware of that than I am right now.

But I’m not one to dwell or get myself worried about it. Life will unfold and things that I still want in my life will happen or they won’t, but no matter what, I have to keep on moving forward. And I’m so glad that I’m home in Florida because I got to spend my birthday with family and then had a night out with friends. And my birthday fell on a Saturday — bonus!

This layout was fun to make – I don’t often go with bold prints and colors, but you only turn 40 once and this will be the only forty layout. To help make the photos stand out on the busy background, I mounted them on a solid colored paper. Love how these instagram photos look on a layout. I took the cue from the black frames in the photos and used black for the accents and title which helped offset the bright colors.

Because I’ve been an embossing fool lately, I decided to experiment with these foam thickers.  I wanted to see if I could get some subtle texture on the letters. It’s hard to tell in the photos, but the folder did add a nice pattern to the letters.

The title for this layout came about when  the server at the restaurant asked how old I was. (Um, rude?) But it was the first time I would have had to say it and I just couldn’t get 4-o out of my mouth. So my Mom joked that I was 29 again and I could be 29 for as long as I wanted. Only that didn’t feel quite right. My thirties were way better than my twenties so I said let’s be more realistic… I’ll go with 34 instead!

I am really happy with how this layout turned out. No sketch for this one, I just put the photos on the paper and it came together. I also finished a couple of other projects that I can’t wait to share. Some of them will show up at Scrapbook Update and I’ll have another layout here on Thursday. Did you get in any crafting time over the three day weekend?

Thanks for stopping by today!

And welcome to the club 🙂
Really, 41 is not bad at all.
It was much easier for me then 40.
And I am learning to just embrace my wisdom and my 40’s because one day I will be 50 and thinking to myself, where did my 40’s go (lol)
Hope you had a great day!!!
